Sure it is possible, but it seems very unlikely. I've seen this picture come up multiple times everywhere and it seems more like clickbait to me.

Look at the condition of it.

Unless he's constantly repairing, restoring, and replacing parts on the thing, there's no possible way that's a daily driver. Especially a vehicle of that vintage, where parts will be hard to find or have to be custom fabricated...

I'd agree with Pabuuu, it's probably just clickbait.

From 'truthorfiction.com'.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/s/Allan…

"The man in the photo is Allan Swift of West Hartford, CT and the car he posed with was his 1928 Rolls Royce Phantom I, which he bought new and drove for close to 77 years . This according to a January 30, 2006 press release by the Springfield Museum in Massachusetts.

When Swift died at the age of 102 in October of 2005 it was his wish that someone take over the legacy of this classic car and maintain it in running condition. This took some planning and thanks to the efforts of a network of antique car collectors Swift and the Springfield Museum organization began negotiations in 2002 to return the Rolls to the city where it was built. In the 1920's the British based Roll Royce company had a plant in Springfield, MA where 2,944 vehicles were produced.

Two months prior to his death, Swift donated $1,000,000 to the Springfield Museums to purchase the Verizon Building in Springfield so that it could be remodeled into a new history museum for the community. The museum opened in 2006 and proudly displays Swift's Rolls Royce along with a collection of other cars and Indian motorcycles.

In 1994 Swift was presented a crystal Spirit of Ecstasy award by Rolls-Royce Motors for holding the record of the longest ownership of one of their automobiles."

From 'springfieldmuseums.org' where the car currently resides.

http://www.springfieldmuseums.org/news/view/51-n…

Swift, who died in October 2005 at the age of 102, was a legend among Rolls-Royce collectors for owning his green Phantom I, S273 FP Rolls longer than anyone in the world had ever owned an individual Rolls-Royce. In recognition of that fact, Rolls-Royce Motors presented him with a crystal Spirit of Ecstasy award at the Rolls-Royce Annual Meeting in 1994.

Swift and the Springfield Museums were brought together through a network of antique automobile collectors. In 2002, when he was 99 years old, he approached the Museums to discuss finding a new home for his Rolls-Royce. Confident in the Springfield Museums' ability to care for the automobile and to tell the story of Rolls-Royce manufacturing in Springfield, Swift indicated that he would donate his car if a building could be found to house it.

Would love to hear the story of how he managed to buy that when he was 20. The cars was 4 years old when he bought it. The cheapest 2010 RR on Ebay right now is $220k.

He drove it for 77 years. Admittedly not every day but that is still something not to be sniffed at. The car lives on. Some parts needed some work but these cars were built incredibly solid back then.

check one of the posts - when he was 90ish he donated a million bucks to buy a building to house the car in - money i dont think was a issue for him

While he didn't "daily" it per say, he did drive it regularly and, considering the age of the car, put quite a few miles on it. Assuming the odometer hasn't rolled over at 1,000,000 miles that's still 2,252 miles per year he put on it. Not bad for a 1928 Rolls

Wow! So it was true! I wonder if it was just his weekend car, or if it was a DD?

Shame people take this picture and repost it (adding on a year each year) for clickbait, though. I just saw it on something called "mgid.com" which is nothing but phony pictures and headlines leading to small time websites looking for traffic.

I've actually seen this car in it's current home (as well as the downtown Rolls Royce gathering the top photo is from, which took place in 1998 or so). Gorgeous car.

It's made all the more epic in that he sought to protect her and have custodians look after her and keep her in the manner she has become accustomed after his death.

I mean how many times do we see on the internet where the owner's car has been found in a garage months or years after the owner's death and sold as 'here is my late uncle's car, looking for a quick sale. Needs some attention but otherwise okay' or 'late uncle's car, spare or repairs, quick sale'. Which is such a shame.
